One big, fat, glorious list of raging fabulosity
A lot of shopping (and a bit of stuff which *isn't* shopping, but is also very very glorious, eg, telly) YOU. ARE. WELCOME.
No clue what happened to the sun, literally: none, but you gotta hope for its imminent return, doncha. While we wait, some things which will cheer you up in its absence, distract you from its absence, and/ or make you feel like it’s still here anyway. (Asterisks for affiliates.)
This Works In Transit Bronzing Serum £38 **
Ultra sheer instant bronzing effect, like a really, really super fine gloss of tan, kind of reminds me of the effect you get from very sheer nail varnish: instant healthy boost. You can add it to moisturiser, though me? I’m whacking it straight on, all over, a little more focus on the cheeks and nose tip. It’s got vitamins c and caramel in it.
While
Drunk Elephant’s D-Bronzi Anti Pollution Sunshine Drops drops give a similar joyous colour wash, only with antioxidants and barrier function boosting properties. An OG and such a goodie. £34**
A little flash of turquoise always makes me feel like it’s definitely summer, rain notwithstanding. I ache for this perfect Mejuri Huggie, £78**. ACHE.
I presumably don’t need to explain the allure of this bag, do I? Or: how much I ache for it, too? (Though perhaps I should add a note about how a splashy bit of gleeful wit like this, juxtaposed against the context of an otherwise grown up and sorely chic outfit, is my idea of heaven. HEAVEN.) Melia Bianco Selena Floral Beaded Bag, £78.
My summer make up vibe (since you ask) is all, light washes of colour with starfish lashes, and Ilia’s mascara gives excellent starfish, stays put, and comes off easily when you want it to come off. Quelle Miracle! £28**
I do also really rate its SPF super serum skin tint, since you ask, £42** (My shade is Paloma 9)
OK, so two things in one here. Thing One, I am obsessed by Broiderie Anglaise, which I think makes an infinitely cooler, more flattering, less pick-me, yet definitely sexy top / dress than all those lace trimmed silky camis currently doing the rounds. It’s undoubtedly connected with my long running desire to own Summer Bits which look like I picked them up while wandering round the back streets of some Greek island 15 years ago, oh I forget which! etc. Thing Two, GAP has some really good bits! I’d barely thought of it since 2016. Either I’d been missing out, or its upped it’s game recently. Case in point:
This white ruffle pin tuck top, £40**
(One question: why is it called Broiderie Anglaise, IE “English Embroidery”, but in French? And why do the Americans call it “eyelet”? That’s two questions. Hey ho. TBD.)
Also this, £65, Damson Madder**, literally in my basket as I type.
Ah. But also, THIS (Talya Top, Wyse London, £125) **
This MILK cooling jelly cheek lip and cheek tint is really fun, and looks super pretty. Silly and sunny and SWEET with a bazillion* colour options (*7, technically). £22**
Department Q on Netflix. An absolute diamond of a show. Bleak, funny, surprising, did I mention BLEAK? Matthew Goode stars.
Black/ grey wide leg jeans from Aligne , £99** . This new denim capsule from my fave Aligne is SO GOOD. I’m generally a blue-jeans-only gal, these, though? These are turning my head. I’d go a size up on your usual, they seem to come in a tad small.
Coming up: THE sneakers of the summer, THE sandals of the summer, the excellent TV show which is getting ignored in all the excitement around Sirens, an outrageously pretty-yet-cool sundress for £90, the only hair styling device I have ever been able to make work well, a brand new, potentially game changing placement of Botox (for me), a discount code on the beauty device everyone’s raving on about, and other GOOD stuff (more TV).
