The 9 very best things I've bought/ been gifted/ had injected into my face recently
Starring an incredibly judicious new (to me) placement of Botox, the products I'm using instead of lip filler, and the collab I like (much) better than the Mossy X Zara
Time for my six monthly Botox appointment with Dr Suha Kersh, aesthetician and, you know, flat-out artist. My face = her canvas.
I’ve been seeing Dr Kersh for the last five years. The first time I went, she gave me a mirror, and said:
”Tell me what you love about your face. Tell me how you’re beautiful,” which was such a gorgeous way to kick off proceedings.
Since then, she’s done the kind of work on me - with regular Botox, rare fillers, and more recently, the juicy, plumping, hydrating salmon sperm derivative, Polynucleotides - which means I feel good about myself (it’s not the only reason, but it’s definitely a solid contributing factor) and which makes other people say:
”But you don’t get any of that stuff - do you?” cos that’s how natural, how not Done, it looks.
(Me: “Oh HELL YEAH I DO!” I do not obfuscate where this is concerned.)
Anyway. Off I go to see Dr Kersh. My feeling on wrinkles and their potential elimination is: the ones that reach out and across, horizontally, or like sun rays at dawn? They’re fine. They open up your face and draw people into it and testify to how much you smile; but the downward reaching ones? The elevenses between your brows, the nasal labial folds, the puppet lines from the side of your mouth to your chin; the ones which make you look dour, cross, sad, tired? Yeah. I’m not feeling those. This isn’t about “chasing youth” IMHO; it’s about me not looking knackered or furious or faintly snooty, all the time.
Dr Kersh injects me in all the usual spots, the forehead, between the brows, around the eyes; it’s quick and proficient and it stings a little, but that passes quickly, plus I know I’m in the most excellent hands, which always helps. Then, she suggests putting some, somewhere else entirely, and I say: “Yes! Do that! Yes!”
So she injects Botox into my
